Is there a way to play Quake with DMC models?

I loved the Deathmach Classic models (except the crowbar) and I was wondering why nobody made a pack to play them with the original Quake... is there a way to do that? i'm newbie with model conversion and creation.

Oh, by the way, I'm using DirectQ, but I can use other port if necessary.

It's already been done before. The links however are dead. I believe Seanstar converted them before - send him a PM to see if he still has them.
They are copyrighted, which is likely why they haven't been posted here. For porting, it is entirely possible however many frames of animation would be removed.

The models are copyrighted? WTF? They're totally copied from Quake, but in high-res version... O.o Damn

they're still considered original works, technically they weren't 'copied' from the quake counterparts but rather 'inspired by'. similar to how when an artist covers another artists song it is seen as paying homage (given that credit has been given to who wrote the lyrics n' stuff).
