  • Another case of admin abuse

Way to go Frenzy. Proving the point I made in the last thread.

You can dish it out but can't take it.

Calling me a newb, telling me to STFU, etc.. + other smack talk.

When I smack back you mute me.

Also, be sure to lock this thread after YOU'VE decide that the community is done discussing it.

Then, also be sure to delete the thread after a few days hoping nobody notices.

For others, search the threads I've created. Notice the last thread I created about Vis's abuse is now gone.

Did some checking, the thread isn't gone but in a hidden forum.

The end of thread went like this ...

I don't see a problem with Frenzy closing and tossing this thread into the hidden forum. In fact, I'm rather happy that he is administrating the forum correctly ... deleting threads is bad [except for commercial spammers]. By moving threads to the hidden forum, other administrators can review the situation and see whether or not a situation was handled correctly. It was in my opinion.

Isn't deleting them the same as moving them to the super secret forum that only the chosen few are allowed to enter to us lowly members?

You are majoring in the minors. Splitting hairs of over what, at the end of the day, doesn't make much of a difference. A temporary interest thread gets eyeballs, but once it is closed no one is looking for it again. Closed, hidden ... doesn't make much of a difference, temporary interest threads are quickly forgotten. I'd argue that Frenzy shouldn't have moved the thread to the hidden forum, but it really makes no difference.

Baker, it is wrong to move community discussion to a private forum.

Some say that this forum is pretty open, but locking and then later moving that thread just shows that there is some serious parenting going on here.

Just because that thread may have come to a close doesn't mean it needs to be removed.

you shouldn't be defending that Baker. It backs up the statement made a while back that any time someone disagrees with "the man" of the forum, people get banned, threads get deleted, etc...

What good is a community forum if the community cannot speak.

That thread should be moved back.

Baker, first of all it shouldn't have been closed.

Second of all, it does make a difference. Threads provide historical record of past events. You're removing those records from us. Why? Because it looks bad for the site? No. Because there are too many newbish admins that live in a bubble? Probably. I could elaborate on this with details, etc.. I could cite past examples. I could even bring up some old threads to help back my point.. oh wait.. only those in the inner circle have access to that.

                    Accountability.

It would be great if the admin commands made globals to force accountability.

These threads bore me quite frankly. Seems like children spats, nothing more. Again, I'm quite convinced to stay in single-player Quake judging from these conversations.

                        wat

You vehemently boast about how open this forum is, and about how great the administration is here... and you condemn when admins delete threads, yet you defend Frenzy's action of moving a thread to the hidden section, while saying you don't agree with it.

It also occurs to me that this isn't the first time you contradicted yourself: remember when you removed my comments from the 5 Years of Quakeone thread?

If you can't handle a little tension than no grouping of people, real life or virtually, will work well for you.

In the game of quake, one of the fastest FPS's ever made, where people are constantly shooting eachother in the face with rockets, etc.. tensions build.

However, in the game of DM, probably the fastest paced multiplayer mod for quake played, very rarely are there any issues between players.

In DM, even in rape-matches, the losers still stay gg and appreciate the game.

We appreciate all players who play and respect everyone equally. Crow can back this up. He is the worst DM'er possible but he is one of the most loved. He brings no attitude and does his best.

One of the few events that actually cause tension in DM is when a player repeatedly team-kills, or steals from their team.

Team games are full of comradery. You can't get the feel of working together as a group toward a common goal from single player. If you prefer playing by yourself instead of with others, that's fine. Don't discredit the multilayer community though because of a few issues. Without the multiplayer community quake wouldn't exist as it does today.

I can handle tension fine and have played multiplayer in many other games thank you Magnus. What I can't stand is whining. Get over yourself dude.
Do you have any idea about how disrespectful your threads seem to many. The way you handle the tension you speak of is what I'm talking about. I realize I'm new enough to this forum to not really have too much of a voice, but I recognize pettiness when I see it. I mean no disrespect and realize I'm sticking my nose in this and you'll probably be angry with me now, but can't you play with other people whom don't piss you off on a different server and not spread the negativity. I don't like when people bitch and offer no solutions, just bitching. If you don't feel it is fair, then offer a solution instead of just complaining. That is how I perceive this. If I'm wrong then talk to me about it. Maybe if you offered a solution or approached the problem differently??? You say Crow brings no attitude, yet that's all I'm seeing here in any of your threads.
I'm through now Magnus, and please accept my explanation for butting in, but can't you at least think about what I say?
