Who watched all "Seal of Nehahra" movie??

I watched it all recently but due to my poor english I have a lot of doubts..

Who is suposed to be the player you control on the original quake? Ranger or Phil?

Ranger is who you controller. Quake 3 is what gave "QuakeGuy" a official name.

Well, according to Nehahra, it's supposed to be Phil.

But according to id, Ranger.

(although, to be honest I kinda pretend Nehahra never existed, as although good in its own right- it implies that the enemy in Quake isn't so much a large sentient psionically-potent monster controlling dimensions and dimensions of deformed creatures, other psionically powerful monsters (including Shub *****rath), and formerly-half-normal people it had driven to insanity and through this madness, servitude);
-but instead a 13th century puritanical feudal society run by a few beurocratic wizards and recently annexed by a 90s era movie snooty emo vampire guy.)

That's why I wrote "suposed".. But both of them are on the movie.. I'm still confused.. :S

Kind of the reason I tend not to play any mods as they lose the whole concept of Quake. SoA followed it great, DoE pushed the story a little much but still fit. Then other mods just take the concept and toss it out the window.

I love mods but I don't mix their stories with the original quake concept..
