Omicron has a great point.. in this day and age we still have a server that allows cheats? That doesn't make any sense.. we went through a whole turnaround about 6 years ago to null these things..

Furthermore.. if you guys think Kimp is the only one cheating at that server I'd be highly surprised.. back in Skuhravy's days.. the entire clan cheated.. Sense.. Skuh.. Twotone.. and so forth.. this was common place in DM.. pak2.. quad timers.. wasn't Bay / Naustic also caught with these guys? I remember Nate and Riot fuming for a while after they found out (IIRC.. I could be mistaken).. when people know they can get away with it on a server they will do it.. believe me..

so while I am not pointing fingers at any particular person TODAY in tdmbecause I have no reason to suspect anyone there other than these Kimp shaft vids.. I wouldn't put it past some of even the more well known players to be using something.. this is not a case of become paranoid and go seek out this stuff.. but some of the 'bigger' names in Quake were using shit regularly..

I watched Kwong and Nate match eachother once prior to anti-wallhack and it was a battle of Pak2's.. neither one would come out from around the corner without prefiring before the guy came around.. I would constantly switch the camera between them just to see this.. its not like a case of me versus Spoon because we make a tonne of noise RJ'ing in CA so we can predict where the other guy will be based on sound.. these guys were totally silent for the entire match just walking/treading carefully and somehow they knew the position of the other guy perfectly.. at pent window/quad they were on each side of the wall not making sound and neither of them would move.. when one guy would commit the other guy would fire a shot right as the other one stepped close.. then the other slowly fell back before getting hit.. it was hilarious..

the reason why I'm naming these two because you guys need to realize that it is not past anybody to cheat in this game, not in this day and age.. Neil handed out cheats frequently in the past to some of the more popular named players.. and cheating has been rampant in sports / video games / life in general whenever you can gain an upperhand on the competition..Krix used a bot against me in a 1 on 1 once to get revenge because he was pissed off about losing in the CQL 1 v 1 tournament to me when he didn't know who I was despite being seeded 5th..he was puppet shafting me around the map before I even rj'd or jumped a ledge.. if I even peeked for a second I already got hit with a cell.. I called Phocus and Rambo (the other one) out here before and they denied it consistently until Phoc finally came around and admitted it.. I really don't care if this causes anyone to hate me for calling out a few people because it's not about them.. it's about the "bigger" picture.. this has plagued Quake for years and just shows that people will do random shit like this and I don't think anyone is above it unless they've had years in the game without any track record of it.. two tone botted against me in a 1 v 1 in CA.. it was the same puppet shafting bullshit as some of the others pulled off.. I know a real shaft when I see one because the way Vis / me / unspoken / spoon / tool / wolv / jesus / cata / apoc use shaft is totally different and legitimate.. years of experience has taught me to pretty much fish out right away a puppet / bot shaft..

Other than the equality/fairness of pings for a particular few.. one has to wonder why some people are so adamant about playing at this server? I don't want to make a connection between this and cheating but it is curious nonetheless.. Crmod was a popular choice prior to this server coming out.. anyhow I'll attribute it to the former not the latter..

You guys should seriously consider playing at another server for now until anti-cheat is added just to see how people perform.. I bet it would be interesting to see some guys not doing as well as they previously were.. but who knows..

thats just a video of someone i guess its omi dominating/camping the rocket launcher room in a dm match. Nobody was typing in the video

i agree with that, and back in the late 90's early 2000's every clan that i knew handed out cheats and hax left and right on icq and irc.. just so their clan would be more dominate, im sure it didnt change after i quit playing, and started back.. it basically got more freely accessible.. However people that rely on pure skill to their own knowledge are the ones that are the most respected by themselves and by others. However it is a choice to play on servers that advocate cheating to be acceptable.

Although I think dm is worse because its the same people playing every game (when the server is full). If the server is full - newbs like me never get picked and never play unless I just join (which I get yelled at for doing). In fact, yesterday people got mad and went to the other port because the newbs (like me) just joined before captains were picked because we wanted to play. CD of course got angry and whined and said they always let new people play....this was at the same time they were trying to do a re-match with 6 people waiting to play.

this is why I will always love ctf. everyone gets along for the most part and we try to get new players to play and dont mind sitting a game to give others the opportunies.

^ speaking of which.. we need to get those CTF Sundays going again.. it works so much better than this tournament stuff.. just a match time each Sunday and bring a bunch of people together no obligation.. it brought back CTF for good for almost 2 months with many old faces showing up like HW / Bosh / Godlike / Bludshed etc then it died down

Mono, I've got a couple months of DM under my belt now and the times I've seen you come to a DM server, it doesn't seem like you are there to play anyway, usually you'll either (a) complain about Kimp being there and then leave or (b) ask if anyone wants to go CTF and then leave.

If you are interested in actually playing team DM on a regular basis, try showing up more often instead of out of the blue. That's how it works. Last night, for instance, you basically joined the server just to ask if it was okay to use cheats there, and then expected to get picked when a close match had just ended and a RM was being called for.

What you did, just joining a team to sort of steamroll the RM, is what you should have done on the other port. Take half the people, who of course won't be playing, and start another match. Obviously Trem or TV could have kicked you, which I'm surprised they didn't cause DM'ers are such dicks, right, but you got your game in and we left to port 01.
