r_wateralpha not working in DarkPlaces

Hi guys

Sorry if this isn't the right place but does anyone know why my water won't go transparent please?
I've tried all different values in game menu, config.cfg, autoexec.cfg and it retains 0.5 for example but the water is still 100% opaque.

I haven't installed it to my Steam copy as discussed here

I really want to get this basic water going before trying any pretty water setups.

Are you talking about the original levels? Have you VISpatched them?

yeah, you need the vispatches for that, which you can get HERE

try adding those, then you will be able to make the water transparent
