    Ultimately, performance wins.

    In-game ,down in the trenches, fighting, you only see blobs of shapes and colors.

    Game devs wanna push limits to sell a new version.

    This isnt that avenue.

    We are used to vintage gfx. 24bitetextures yadda yadda...

    It;s cool to show off eyecandy but gameplay is what brings back players.

    if u can achieve both then thats called a generation.

            Most times,I am playing a new game purely to see "New Graphics" lol.

              I think parallax occlusion mapping is just a buzzword for one of the newer variants of bump mapping. The latter being a very widely used term understood by many... unlike parallel occlusion mapping which is a term that in a few years no-one will remember.
