As far back as I can remember in pro quake you could hit the tab keys and it would display the scores

What your complaint centers around is that I took it upon myself to do anything,guys like you think there should be a complete breakdown before any attention is directed to a problem.You having a problem with my Temp banning solution is just another indicator what your real issue is that anyone had the nerve to do anything at all.

Bum rushing a server and trolling in the middle of a match is blatantly the WRONG way.I never did anything to someone who used some tact and waited till a match was over.I did not ever in any way say nobody could talk about another server or mod,so please don't put words in my mouth.

I would like you to make it impossible for anyone not actually playing to not be able to talk,AT ALL.

In the next few weeks, we as a community will have to figure out how stronger server-side controls can be used correctly and "done right".

I'm going to save thinking about that until later, I've been trying to wrap up the stats thing in a way that even a server crash/restart cannot lose the data with no chance of duplication. The stats need to be good stats.

We've got to work through these kinds of things so everyone is happy (including you, btw). Within reason.

I think the best way to solve this stuff is get everyone on the same team again. We used to really have this going a few years back.

I just watched this ctf2m8 demo r00k sent me.. its me/dfg/spoon versus you/disco and a few other guys.. its a pretty good one.. finishes in the 400s for each team.. we always have extremely close finishes on ctf2m8.... some classics

To be fair, I had already said in another thread just about a week ago that I had an elitist attitude toward newbs and that I regret doing that while I was playing Quake. I think I pushed away a lot of new players that way. (You can check my posts if it befits you)

There are some fallacies in your post but nonetheless..

During the CA tournament, you would go outside and spam rockets toward the window as much as possible. Sure, it's a strategy, but we weren't pubbing. I didn't see the need for you to resort to going outside every single round and spamming multiple rockets toward the window. I wanted to get the match over with as quick as possible so I could move on to the next player, and you were making the process longer than it should have been... I understand now you were utilizing a set strategy, although I wasn't fond of it which caused me frustration. I had some choice words for you during that time, certainly didn't come off right.

What the hell are you talking about? No one was complaining, you took it upon yourself to do the banning. So saying it is a thankless job is ridiculous since no one is asking you to do things that you're doing.

Also saying "nobody was actually banned" but meaning that they were only banned for a short time is not the same thing.

It's not a thankless job, in fact, it's not a "job" at all. It's ridiculous that some people just can't take responsibility for their actions and say "sorry guys, after doing some reflection on what has taken place, I can see I'm in the wrong". You have pretty much the entire Quake community with people who have played for 15+ years here telling you that you shouldn't ban anyone seeking to find players for their mod.

Moreover, Muller (or any other player for that matter) can choose to play any game they want. He's not "stealing" someone, when that person acted under their own power and left the CA server to go play elsewhere. Since when do we dictate where people want to play? DM/CTF players will often play CA until a game starts in another mod, then they will hop over to a different server. This is common practice in video games..

Bluntz, you're a cool guy, but clearly you're a stubborn individual.. I am too.. but if I was in your shoes.. I would look at the entire situation and see that what I did clearly wasn't in the best interest of the public, I think this is the duty of anyone who has "admin powers".. not to abuse it..

I think sometimes when you pass thor's hammer too quickly to an individual who has never held that kind of power before, they go wild with it..
