le first fixed weapon... le shotgun:
top is with ruohis textures, bottom is with own custom textures
this way i am not using ruohis textures anymore and thus not violating his license anymore
also replaced the sound with a free one i found online. searched for free shotgun and pump sound, combined them and le voila SL -new quake shotgun sound - YouTube
Wow and to think, you could have done this all on your own in the beginning, and avoided this.
Seriously, you can lay no claim or rights to any of that. I now begin asking myself why you are even here at Quakeone.com , considering much of what passes through your computer screen has a real chance of being stolen and placed for sale at SecondLife which has admittedly not a damn thing to do with Quake1
Let's not kid ourselves, you have no rights to practically 99% of the stuff you're pushing at that store.
Last time I checked even My Little Pony was even Registered and Trademarked.
If you wanna continue doing what your doing, than just admit its wrong and tell anyone who has said something in this post to basically fuck off,and you have no plans of changing how you handle things.

ok i have the solution to this all... a solution JD suggested to me in a PM:
i will remove the textures from all the weapons and ammo pick-ups and put on some custom ones.
then nothing will be made by anybody else, and all the weapons and pickups will be made completely by me, and only 'look like'.
i will not be violating neither ruohis nor plagues licenses then, because the items will no longer include anything made by them
.
maps: textures in them are from QRP which state on their site its fine to use them commercially as long as credits are given.
ive already dropped their prices a lot, nothing else will be done since i am not breaking any licenses.
map-sources are licensed yes, but i am not using any parts of the actual maps.
wolf3D map: same thing, nothing from the game in them, textures are hi-res textures taken from packs from various engines,
and all items in the maps are own-made 3D models. so i dont see what the problem would be there
rouhis's licence prohibits commercial compilations using his (texture) work.
I've already pointed this out.
you are still in violation.
it really doesn't matter if you're trying to contact him or not. you're only allowed to use it *AFTER* he says its okay, and not simply because you wrote down his email address wrong or whatever other lame excuse someone in your situation might try to come up with.
'hey, I'm violating your license and making money off your work, thats fine yeah? awesome!'
yeah, because *that* is acting in good faith... not.
attempting to 'truck' or otherwise derail his thread earlier doesn't help either.
@spirit as ive said a fucking bazillion times now,
i do give proper credit to the authors of the textures and models in readme's included with my items...
just so you can see it more clearly now, since obviously it isnt clear to you that i said numerous times before
i include credits for the creators of the items and the models my creations have the likelyness of, ive added a big piece of text on the bottom of all my ads.
is it now clear enough for you people i do give credits? (which i said a ton of times before that i do give them)
also... as ive also said before,
i have sent ruohis a PM about the textures and likelyness of his hi-poly models, and am awaiting response....
.
@mindz
ive never removed the ads, dun go tell bs again like you did before about supposed permissions.... thank you
also, if you did really look at my items you wouldve noticed the huge piece of text added to the bottom of every ad which i added with credits to ruohis and plague and such
so once more you obviously didnt give a serious look at the items or you wouldve noticed that
.
@omac
i used absolutely zero things ripped from the game for my wolf3d map. the wall-textures are hires textures from various doom sourceports, and the hitler painting i found through google.
the models i put in those maps were all 100% self-created, me and my gf at that time looked at what the sprites would be and then created models based on our ideas of how they would look like in 3D.
even the doors we've remade entirely in 3D, which is most obvious in this picture:
the map-layout is the same yes, but absolutely zero in that map is taken from the game itself.
Believe it or not, I checked this site a bit ago and took note that everything had been removed. Now everything is back.
Nothing will be done it seems, on a permanent basis that is. Maybe she is betting since everyone did these things for free, that they are too cheap to be bothered to sue her.
Talisa - Bluntly put, you've lifted textures, & recreated existing 3D models in another environment without asking permission.
& then sold them.
Even for pennies? Or portions of pennies? It doesn't matter. Violating intellectual & digital property is taken seriously. If it seems everyone is picking on you - there's good reason. Facts are facts. No amount of emotion will change that.
Funny of you to pinpoint the shotgun which, judging from the description, includes the original sound effect from the game. You have pretty big ovaries to sell that.
No one gives a fuck about what is normal in Second Life. No one gives a fuck how awful the tools are and how long it took for you to replicate things. I sincerely hope you had fun and enjoyed doing it.
I did read your posts and I read them again. If you tell me to read all your posts once again I think my brain will melt in agony. So if you want to continue this nonsense, would you be so kind to explain what is wrong with my assumption: "So you rebuilt ruohis' models and id's maps polygon by polygon or what?"
Plague's: If there is no license, then you have no right to use anything.
Ruohis: Since as far as I know you replicated his designs, you better ask about those as well.
PS: This all would have been a non-issue if you a) would have given proper credit in the first place and b) would not charge for copies/replications of other people's creations. Not to mention c) not acted like a four letter word.
PPS: I honestly don't really care about the specific works. But I feel that acting like this is detrimental to a community and so I speak up. I am blunt, sorry about that, it's just speaking out without a flowery-filter. I guess others think that my behaviour is not very positive either, if so please join in.
once more, you are judging someone without doing any actual reading mindz
stop being an idiot and start reading
if you did actually check my items, you wouldve noticed that on every of my items both copy and modify have a check next to them, meaning they are allowed to be copied and modified by the buyer
every single of my items is allowed to be modified and copied by the buyer, only the scripts are copyable only.
I was using the "Refine Search" section ,so that would a failing on the websites part not mine. I checked the boxes, Refined search, and it listed zero items. Maybe something worthy of reporting back to whoever runs that charade should know about.
I apologize I didn't invest an extra 10 seconds into it. I however do not apologize for thinking your full of shit selling these things.
