think it would be a nice addition to the site to have a lil chat-window!

perhaps it could be at right-top, right above the 'server browser'?

just make the server browser a bit less tall and add a chat-window above it

A shout box is ok, but they don't show a list of names of who is online.

If we could have a nick list we could arrange pugs and so on, which is where an IRC channel would come in useful.

Yes I guess so. Oh well it was just a thought. My experience of these tiny shout box windows isn't great and they are a bit limited compared to a real chat room.
