They are currently underground... building strength, layin in da cut, plottin' a scheme, in the process of infiltrating and setting up a botnet the likes of which the world has not yet known, all in the measly attempt to sell us indian viagra and tell us that it can be used together with redbull..
i dont need viagra and i cant stand redbull !

When things are running "normally", no one will notice.

That being said, it looks like the forum spammers are gone for good. You couldn't imagine the sheer number of spammer accounts I deleted (maybe 200), and since they don't seem to be able to register here any longer maybe they are gone for good.

I'm sure we will occasionally get a human spammer, not really that hard to deal with 1 spammer per week though.

Anyway, no more logging into the site just to see 4 or 5 people with really stupid names like "jklm5067" and so forth.

I figure it's more fun for me because I like tracking and searching my clients' results and seeing their websites appear on 1st pages.. it's more rewarding after you put in work.. it also feels good when people tell you that their conversions are going up..

it would be much more difficult to deal with algorithms on a daily basis.. but they have a lot of bots / crawlers doing the work for them as well.. just search google headquarters on youtube.. I believe there is a video out there that shows just how big their datacentre is..

Google just did an under the hood update back in January called Google caffeine.. so instead of waiting like a week - month to get your website indexed / cached (and 2-3+ months for rankings) it now only takes a few days for every website to get updated.. it's amazing for someone in my work field cause it means I can guarantee quicker results.. that was one of the setbacks to SEO but it's no longer a problem..

No, they won't be back.

Their software/programs are all automated, I know because I use similar things but I don't spam I actually write legitimate posts using programs to create backlinks.. they don't visit your site individually.. the program just runs through your website as part of their search query.. it is most likely a forum automater which goes through the sign up process automatically.. all they have to do is confirm the e-mails and then it will post threads / messages for them without them having to be there.. by adding the extra screen you spoke of.. they will just get a failed message for your particular website on their list..

they do this for thousands of websites so you don't have to worry about them posting here..

Yeah, I'm counting on the "there are too many easy targets in the ocean of internet" for them to adapt to this.

Although I've deleted well over 100 of them, there are hundreds of these types of accounts remaining.

i have "skipscreen" for firefox, which enters captchas automatically, with megaupload rapidshare hotfile etc etc, i dont know if it will work on a registration page.... but i dont get how skipscreen enters captchas auto style...
