  • Between Two Flags: Interview with Biker (from Quake 3)

Welcome to the Show, ladies and gentleman. I have too much free time on my hands, so I will interview Biker. I'm just playing. But really, it is an honor to interview this guy. This guy has won five perfect medals, three gauntlet medals, and two accuracy medals in Quake 3 Arena. Please give a warm welcome to the one and only Biker!

    [Applause]

    RL Clown: How are you?
Biker: I'm fantastic! Thanks for inviting me.

RL Clown: Why did you become an arena gladiator?
Biker: I wasn't doing well in school. I was horrible with algebra. So I became a gladiator. Just kidding! Actually, to me, it is a passion. I enjoy blowing things up. I enjoy blowing up other bots. Being an arena gladiator is kinda like being a UFC fighter, except I get to use rocket launchers on my opponent. It is mind-blowing action.

RL Clown: What is your favorite game type?
Biker: This is too easy! It's free-for-all. I enjoy the frenzy. I enjoy running around and taking out my anger on other bots. But sometimes I don't feel angry. Sometimes I just do it for fun. (Do it just to do it.)

RL Clown: What is your opinion of Sarge?
Biker: I used to kick his ass back in the day... That was obviously a joke. No really, I have some respect for Sarge. I met him in high school. We used to play tackle football together. He is a strong guy. Not to mention, he's smart. Well, he's not very smart when it comes to books. But he is street-smart. He's a tough guy. Whenever I'm facing him, I expect him to be very challenging.

RL Clown: You actually took part in voluntary work. Please explain. Please elaborate.
Biker: Yes, I sure did! Quake 3 has held some drives to collect money to help some poor people. I actually took part in those drives. On my own free time, I stood outside the Arena Gate, I wore a Santa Claus hat, and I collected some donations. I also fed some poor people. I poured soup into their bowls and I gave them a warm smile.

RL Clown: I'm sorry to say this but your contract will expire in 2016. Does this mean that you will work for Unreal Tournament?
Biker: You know, I actually thought about it. UT is a great federation, don't get me wrong. But UT's bots do not have any character. They're kind of boring. They repeat the same words over and over again. Please don't take it personally. I'm trying to be constructive with my criticism. That being said and some people consider UT as family-friendly entertainment. UT is not violent enough for me. I feel that my heart belongs with idsoftware. I should remain loyal to Quake 3 Arena.

RL Clown: I do not want to spend so much time on your personal life, but please tell me a bit about your personal life. (Just a bit.)
Biker: I am a father. I have a lovely wife and I have two kids. (Well, they're not kids anymore.) One is in college (he is studying health sciences.) The other one is in high school. She loves mathematics and history.

RL Clown: If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Biker: I would change MANY things about the world! No, but to answer your question, I would change the stereotype of motorcyclists. Some people think that motorcyclists are mean/evil people. Actually, I always thought that I was a nice person. Well, nobody's perfect. I have committed a few sins, but I do a lot more good things than bad things.

RL Clown: Do you take the hog out for a spin?
Biker: Are you kidding me? I do it all the time! Now I live in southern Florida, so the weather is always good for driving. I used to live in New York. I didn't really like the snow, but I thought that public transportation was okay. (By the way, go Giants. Go Jets.)

RL Clown: What do you watch on TV?
Biker: I don't watch a lot of TV. I have a very busy schedule. But when I do have some time, I enjoy watching The Voice. I would like to take a moment to congratulate last night's winner. Congratulations to Tessane and Adam Levine, her coach. I don't really like Maroon 5 but he coached her very well. I usually listen to heavy metal, but I started to enjoy pop music recently.

RL Clown: Unfortunately, we are out of time. Thank you for answering my questions, Biker.
Biker: My pleasure. Have a good day.
