  • Qrack Cel shading

I remember back in September I found on guide on it, but now I've searched at least 10 different phrases like

cel shade cell shading cell shad cel shading ect.

but can't pull anything out google is even worse and harder to find.

I got Qrack loaded with the 24-bit textures fine but enabling cel shading in the menu doesn't change anything.

I got nVidia current update win8 x64 its a ddr5 card, all settings on qrack are basically maxed accept frame rate.

        Hello Nickelbawker,

"cel shading" is a feature that adds an outline to models, which gives a cartoonish look.
Some also say it gives an aditional "depth" visual.

In Qrack you can enable this feature with this:
        r_outline 1
In Darkplaces you can enable this feature with these 2:
        r_celoutlines 1
        r_shadow_deferred 1

        Sample screen from Qrack:

        Sample screen from Darkplaces:

I am sure that also FTE as well as other engines support it.

        Have fun,
        Seven

thanks seven although i got dark places now think i like no cel shading because I got the graphical level really high it seems more gorey with it off

I still might keep qrack cel shaded around for people with crappy laptops / pcs

                r_celshading 1 (or 2)

r_outline 1 (1-7 for thickness depending on resolution)

also try gl_vertexlights 1 for similar effect but much faster fps.
