  • Couple issues, need help.

So I've got my setup working how I like again, but I'm plagued with a couple of small issues.

First up is the dog skin is obviously not for the model, I am using QR Quake Bestiary and I haven't changed a thing other than updating SMC. I have set it so none of the extra skins are used and none of the new creatures for now until I can get semi-vanilla quake running how I like. I don't know if this is a possible bug with SMC or I am missing a setting somewhere.

The second issue is a more minor, but also SMC related. I have installed animated reflecting overload as I usually do, but I am not getting the lovely window beams. I have already compared all the ent files to make sure nothing is missing from them, and it is all present. Do I need seanstar's new windows with the cubemaps in order to get this to work again? If so the link for those is down. Is there something missing in effectinfo.txt maybe?

Thanks in advance to help me with these problems.

Interesting, you think you have issues with smc and dont post them in the smc thread ? LoL

    Your issue no 1.)
Many things have happened since your vacation (away from Quake).
There was this incredibly talented young man for example who called himself Capnbubs.
He made fantastic faithful new models for Quake. The dog was one of it.
His dog is better in every aspect compared to the original dog model.
Also for faithful Quake fans and HD-junkies at the same time.

Long story short, his dog model found his way into the smc of course.
You should maybe try to use it instead of the Reforged skin for the orig dog model.
It is enabled by default, but you can of course use both dog models in parallel via the multimodel/multiskin feature of the smc. So you have both in your game (and can then decide).

Anyhow, if you still do not want, just drop this folder into your smc folder. It will bring back the original dog model for you: Download

    Your issue no 2.)
You did something wrong when copy/paste the relevant blocks from one .ent file to the other.
All you need is to use the .ent file from within the smc download and copy the window beam blocks into it. Or only use the window beam .ent files from the reflecting overload pack.
I quickly did this for you for the start map, so you can see that everything works just fine: Download

    Have fun with your Quake.

I didn't want to clutter your thread with things I wasn't sure are SMC related or just my own screw up.

So anyways with the dog, I have overwritten all with SMC files and the dog still has the wrong skin... so I don't know how to fix it to use the new ones. I really don't want to start over from scratch as I can't even remember what all I have installed (This is why Quake needs a mod manager).

Unfortunately I cannot use zippyshare, the download button does not work or is blocked in my country. I'll check the .ent files again but I couldn't find any window stuff at all in them. I wonder if my download is old or wrong or something.

      :EDIT:

OK I missed the start .ent, fixed it now.

I still don't know how to fix the issue with the dog tho, I would like the new high poly one. I tried models from the original thread and seems the UV mapping is different to the ones in SMC. So I put the SMC ones back again overwriting all... still the UV is wrong for the dog. Typical modding troubles.

Got someone else to DL the dog for me, works again. Not sure why the textures are wrong with the new model.

Now I need to figure out why Plague's armor models don't work anymore either.
