Reminder: A strong password is a good thing to have.

A good password contains upper- and lowercase letters as well as numbers.
Don't use a common English word (that would be too easy to crack.)
You can write your password down to remember it. Stow it away safely.

Remember to change your password once in a while.

Should I care if someone hacks my quakeone account?

Probably not. So long as you dont use the same password for everything, or store your password or any other sensitive information in your private profile or personal messages.

^ The key is if you used the same password on other sites. Use a different password for every site, and use a secure password manager.

Please note the site has not been hacked. This is just a friendly reminder.

I've been using the same pass forever abcdefg-12345678. That shit works great. Try it. If you don't agree that it is good then how come all those password strength bars hop to full green when I use it?

If you don't care about someone posting warez, insults, or other inappropriate stuff under your account, or everyone else having to deal with that crap, no, you don't have to care.

My password is password123456 and it's been working pretty well.
I am like a stray dog, lost in between what I do and what I should do.

Security is pretty important, even if it is just on a site you barely visit.

If your account is compromised the hacker can masquerade as you, contact anyone at their disposal and even get your account banned or possibly get you into legal trouble.

So yeah, you may want to just change your password every once in a while.

Here's a cool little tool to show you theoretically how fast it would take a standard PC and a half-wit to crack your password: https://howsecureismypassword.net/

According to the site I just listed above it would take a standard PC roughly a few million years to crack my password

                        Interesting stuff!

mine is 6 million years. I can live with that. By the time someone cracks it my head will be propped on some mainframe, artificially kept alive and I won't need the 4$ I left in the bank.
