  • Blood (DOS)

Since Atari is a stubborn mule, they won't release the code for Blood 3D.

So, no source ports for blood + Windows 7 user = You're screwed.

But wait! A light is shining on the other side! And it goes by the name of DOS-Box.

I can't get it to run for the life of me. I have all the files fresh off the cd, but I don't know how to execute in DOS.

    Any help would be appreciated.

DOS Box works great by simply just dragging the old exe into the program itself (like you drag and drop a file into a folder)

I believe I've did that in the past, but it only launched DOS.

      Hold on.

Yep, it works peachy-keen, but no sound or music.

I believe I know what the problem is, I remembered reading about having a soundblaster to listen to blood.

I don't know any work-arounds to this, could there be a solution besides a swap in my audio hardware?

I haven't used it, but here's a blood launcher which might make things easier:

One Unit Whole Blood - Launcher, Maps and Mods all packed into one

Apparently there's a way to get multiplayer working as well..

Ok, I ran the SETUP.exe in DOS, and proceeded to the sound portion of the configuration process. Since it's old as dirt, the only available options are:

            Gravis Ultrasound
            Sound Blaster
            Sound Man 16
            Pro Audio Spectrum
            AWE 32
            Soundscape

My sound card is Realtek HDMI Output. Any suggestions?

Thank you so much good sir! I've looked this whole time for one, and apparently, this one eluded me.

              I can't thank you enough.

It doesn't matter what your real soundcard is or what it outputs to.
DOSbox is an emulator, from that list choose SOundBlaster, IRQ7 , port220 and DMA 1 , for music SoundBlaster again.
                Then youl'get sound
In time, Fire will fade ... and only Dark will remain

You're right for music, soundblaster works fine.
But Sound Effects has a prompt after I select it, stating that there's no response. Is there any way to turn off the message so I can select Soundblaster for SX too?

Wow, the blood launcher download takes forever; around an hour; and I have a fast PC.

I was able to install TF2 on Steam in only 20 minutes! WTF? Now it went from 17 to 30! What the hell is going on?

Wow. 45 minutes and counting. My cpu usage is at 18%. I've only heard of sinister downloads like this that keep increasing in time.

                      Need some help here.

I cannot, no matter how hard I try, get the Blood Launcher download to go past 31%, it just shuts down and quits. This is the only download I've ever had a problem with in my life.

If anyone has the launcher already downloaded, could someone please link it to this thread in a post. Thank you for your time.

This one is only taking 28 minutes on my PC.

Well, I tried again and got it to start. It had something to do with 7-Zip (I never use 7-Zip, I'm a WinRAR user), so I just said yes to all.

Then a diagnostic message popped up saying nearly 99% of the temporary internet files replaced where data errors.

I thought this was a blood game launcher, not something to do with appdata and 7-Zip.

The installer could of been made with 7zip. Clear out your temporary files and redownload it. It worked fine for me, so sounds like there was a corruption.

Indeed, they said missing or corruption, so I'll clear my cookies.

Should I download 7-Zip for this download? I'm not savy with all these file manager programs.
