  • "Quit" Messages

One small piece of innovation I enjoyed from 'id software' was the verbally abusive messages they would have posted when you tried to quit the game.

What are some of your favorite "quit" messages?
What "quit" messages would you use in your game?

    Here are some of mine...
    - In Soviet Russia, game quit you!
    - Fine, go ahead, I never loved you anyway.
    - Would you like to permanently delete the game?
    - Someone want to get their ass kicked?
    - Do you really want to break my heart?
    - The monsters WISHED they could quit too.
    - Seriously? You have a long way to go, asshole.
    - Are you cheating on me with another game?
+Rep! I'm going to the top!

I liked the one from Doom that said something like "Do you REALLY want to go back to MSDOS?"

    - Ragequit? Y/N
    - Just blame it on lag next time.
    - It was probably past your bedtime anyway.
    - If you quit now, all previously saved data will be permanently erased.
    - This licence only permits a once-time use of the game. If you quit now, you'll need to renew your license.
    - Quit command received. Now permanently increasing CPU voltage by 400%. Shutting down...

One that I tend to always remember is the one where it says something like "Press Y and I'll bust your face open."

        Quake hates quitters

''If you quit now, I'll throw a Blanket Party for you next time! ''
        I miss these things.
What was cool about them was they were so old-school. They didn't rely on the SEVERITY of the threats like telling you you'd lose stuff, or by using a lotta profanity, or that much anger. Just really witty insults.
It's been done this way since Wolfenstein 3D. My favorite from there is ''You see a signpost up ahead. It reads "Press Y to exit".'' Thinly veiled Twilight Zone reference or just text adventure reference?

In case you are wondering a 'Blanket Party' is where folks hold you under a sheet and beat you with blunt objects.
Implicating in this case that you get punished for 'quitting now' when you happen to get back... Military style.
Lotta military references throughout id's earlier First-person shooters even aside from that the Quake player is a Marine.
I've had some ideas of my own but I never wrote them down so I forgot 'em all.

I remember one though that went like this:
That's right, you can quit Quake.
You can run right back to your 'family and friends' you love so much.
They don't love you like Quake does.

          Here are some of mine.

-If you quit now, you love Justin Bieber.
-Go ahead and quit, like the loser you are.
          -Quit now, play tomorrow.
-I seriously hope you play Doom after you quit.
I am like a stray dog, lost in between what I do and what I should do.
But sometimes, all you need is Imagination.
