  • Quake adapter for WC 3.3 help

    Hi,
i've got a few problems with the quake adapter for WC 3.3, and I was wondering if any one knew how to solve them. If i open WC 3.3 with the quake adapter after a clean install I can add entities, however when I open it the second time there are no entities to choose in the drop down box, so I have to re-install it again to get them working. My second problem is to do with actually running a map i've made. At first I made just a plain room with a spawn. and everything worked fine. However when I made a second test map which had a door, some lights, a spawn and a weapo,n whenever I tried to load it in quake it wouldn't load.
If it helps i'm using the steam version of Quake (that could be a problem, not sure) and I have checked that everything in the game config and build config in options is set up right. Also, when I open the program the second time the build config directories have changed so I put them back to the original directories that worked from the fresh install, but it still won't work ; /
    Thanks

I'd work through the tutorial. Sometimes in Worldcraft, the editor is in another "mode" and you have to press CTRL-Q to exit the mode.

Make sure you have the entity tool selected, Worldcraft is picky about what you are doing and isn't very cooperative if you are trying to add an entity if you have, say, the brush model tool selected.

My second problem is to do with actually running a map i've made. At first I made just a plain room with a spawn. and everything worked fine. However when I made a second test map which had a door, some lights, a spawn and a weapo,n whenever I tried to load it in quake it wouldn't load.
Make sure the map compiled and didn't stop with an error message. If an error occurred during compile, there isn't a map. (The most widespread errors are trying to compile a map of the same name while you have Quake open with a map running or missing an info_player_start entity).

It shouldn't matter if you are using Steam's version of Quake as long as the folder is right.

I do want to make sure you are aware of other mapping resources:

    http://www.celephais.net/board (Quake mapping forum)
    irc://irc.quakenet.org/terrafusion (Quake mapping IRC channel)

I hope this helps. Worldcraft is a great editor, but is a little picky about a couple of things.

I just started having a problem with the Quake adapter. I've suddenly and inexplicably lost the ability to select anything in the 3D view. I've been getting by alright without it, but working with small and symmetrically placed brushes has become a hassle, and texture alignment is pretty much impossible. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Forgot to mention, it's apparently a Worldcraft 3.3 problem, not a problem with Quake adapter.
