Cache is up to 6MB now? WOW, I am still at 512K. By the time I will build my next computer all these technical specs figures will double. Ah! How times are changing...

I wouldn't build that. Your choices to not go at least 1x SATA, over 1GB of ram, that cheap case with a cheap power supply, and an aging X2 processor would be regrettable. The vid card is only slightly better than what's in my 2 year old laptop.

at the same take home price of $49.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130085

has double the pixel pipelines of the 8500. Plus buying two of the exact same model at one time makes it easier for SLI.

I cant wait to see my framerates in QUake4/QuakeWars...

When I built my computer the price was $1,500 and it was matching the specs of those rip-offs Alienwares which they sell for $3,500 and are not available in stores.

WEll i was thinking of using my existing rig to code/ test quake projects,
the new rig i was thinking of hooking it to the 240 adapter for the hookers on the corner so they can keep warm and humming all night, to broadcast native american chant in realtime on my cowboy ham radio, to calculate the motion on my wind turbine in the back yard for domestic electrical input (5400watt) and maybe id spend the rest warmin muh coffee

okjust kiddn! its just to play some modern games/tech demos

I'm looking to build a new PC that has more power to it also. I've heard the Intel Duo cpu's outpower the AMD dual-cores. I'd have to say for gaming Intel duo wins, also get nVidia graphics Wheres the_foqer he knows all about computers!

*cough* , this computer will run anything for the next few years, thats all I need... I dont need todays tech to enjoy todays games.

I currently have a Athlon 64 x2 4200+ , with a Sapphire x1650 thats overclocked quite well from factory specs and has played anything I've loaded..

                            All? No.
Mind'z comp is horrible... one stick of DDR = only 1 GB of way outdated memory on single channel which sucks ballz o_o

Rook that pc looks great, but I would scratch the two 8600GTs and get a single 8800GS. Trust me, it will be much better. And then you can SLI that later :p

for a power supply I reccomend the Corsair 520hx.

As for that motherboard, it's great. It actually runs SLI at full speed (16x/16x) not like some boards that run 16x/8x or 8x/8x mode.
