    Hi QN
I suspect it may also be a case of when you are looking. I regularly see players on Texas, FFANY (CAX), Rage, Rot, Damage, Bigfoot/EuroQuake, and FlandersNewdm.

RuneQuake can be a bit of light relief, depending on who is on, but I can't help wonder if just one of the reasons Shmack gets the numbers it does is because it's easier to pick up a game there, and has become a sort of meeting place for Quake players. I know some of the hardcore DM players tend to mock it but others take the view that RuneQuake is better than no Quake at all

Anyhow, do a tracert or use pingplotter or whatever to trace the hops to the server hostname. You may find out one of the hops has HUGE packetloss happening at random spikes. I had this a couple years back and it was a bad hop on the DC area. Since the server has moved, I hear some people dont always have the great connection they use to - I dont think there is a win win scenario for everyone because your path to the server depends on a number of other providers along the way and if they have oversold the bandwidth there not alot can be done, unless always stay connected to the server even if not playing. Have seen some people do that and the bandwidth monitoring tools at those providers will eventually allocate your connection better BW over time. Drawback there is server will be always full....
I've posted tracerts before on Slot's forum. If I remember right, the bad hops were at the hosting facility (or just before it entered the facility in Chicago).

And just because I win doesn't mean I don't suffer from lag and packetloss. I adjust.

Are the traces better now, Sole?

St. Louis it is. I noticed my ping dropped about 10ms when it was moved from Chicago. I use to get 50ms on server now its like 40ms

I could see some PL and Latency spike issues going on there.

Wish I could say the same about my current cable. Pissing me off for sure. Once I get my desk in (been 6 weeks now) and new gaming rig (going on 5 weeks) since order was placed I will get everything setup and ready to go hard wired etc.. until then I am staying on the down low away from gaming.
