Im guessing I need to download some mods or something to even play now days... I dont even know what to download. can you help me please lol
Ok, every time I try to join a server... It says something about me missing a map file or something. I have the original Quake with GL JoeQuake.... I dont understand what I am missing or what I need to download in order to play. Im very new to this whole modded quake system.
Hi all, pretty neat that there is still interest in the classic ID games.
I primarily used to play through MPlayer (remember that?) It was a neat community in the late 90s.. I rather liked the concept of how it organized everything and also helped prevent certain mods/cheats from being used. Eventually it also had a ranking system too. Before and after that I used to use GameSpy.
I always played as "HuskyUnit" in case anyone would remember me. I first got in to ID games when I was quite young from having a demo of Rise of the Triad that came with my first PC. From there I got the full version, then on to Quake, the mission packs, and later games.
I always loved Quake 1 best for Multiplayer. Quake II was perfectly fine but something about the feel of Q1 just was my preference. Q3 is great but I found something about the pace and the rail-gun to be annoying. With later games there seems to be more and more tricks that become the focus of mastering. Vanilla Q1 just kept it simple, for the most part all one could do is keep improving their precision and speed with the RL, and keep their armor up, all other things being equal. (Sometimes the LG if available.)
Good times! My question is, does anyone set up regular public games to play Q1 anymore that I can find out about?
Hi there. I'm new here and I've not played Quake in aaaages. So I'd love to get back into it. The last time I played Quake I actually worked on a speedrun for a month or so (easy difficulty, only episode 1; didn't get that close to the records, but the regulars were amused ). So right now I wanna do some DM/CTF.
Hello everyone! I'm a long time Quake player but haven't played in YEARS! Found this site when doing a search for the quake ranger. Been wanting to get back into playing this game since it seems it's making a small comeback of sorts. How do I go abouts getting back into the action and gaming with this awesome game again? Thanks guys!
